Healthgrades has just published its most recent list of the top 50 hospitals in the United States. The award winners for America's Top 50 Best Hospitals represent 1% of the nation's top hospitals. These are medical centers that have consistently demonstrated top-tier performance year after year across a wide range of clinical conditions and treatments, as determined by Healthgrades.

The top 50 hospitals in the United States were determined after assessing over 4,500 hospitals across the country for 32 procedures and conditions such as stroke, sepsis, respiratory failure, pneumonia, heart failure, and heart attack. According to the poll, patients treated in these 50 hospitals have a 26.6% lower probability of dying than patients treated in other hospitals that did not reach the top 50 list. If all hospitals in the country performed at the same level as the top 50 that made the cut, it could possibly save over 161,930 lives on average.
